Description

I would love to have some help figuring out what else needs to change about this piece.  This perspective is difficult for me, and I'd appreciate critiques!

5/4/16 Edit
Made some changes based on the helpful critiques, and I'm liking it a lot better now! The character has more definition in her face, the scene feels more atmospheric, and the whole image feels more like it belongs together. But, I've still got a ways to go yet.  Great goodness lighting is difficult!  I'm still trying to figure out how to make the dappled light look real. Any tips or critiques are much appreciated!

These characters come from the mind of a friend. Here is a link to his DA acount:

And this whole piece would have been terribly different without the use of Obsidian Dawn's foliage brushes!  Those brushes were a lifesaver!

The perspective is pretty good. I would likely suggest darkening the shadows for a bit higher contrast though, gives it a better "perspective feeling".
Also, although the background has less detail than the character, the color values are very similar, and so you lose perspective there too. Look into atmospheric perspective a bit, maybe. Like how things get grayer and grayer the further away they are because the air itself masks it.
Then again, I dont imagine those trees are SUPER tall... hm. maybe have her be speckles with leaf shadows?

is this from a book?
